For The Best Scottsdale
I love hiking at Pinnacle Peak Park and I’m a regular there. I can run to the trail from my house, but whether you live in the area like I do or you drive to this beautiful park, you know that it’s one of Scottsdale’s gems that make our city unique and special.
Pinnacle Peak is a victim of its own success with residents and tourists. The parking lot is often jammed and overflowing onto the surrounding streets. The hiking trails and park facilities can get uncomfortably crowded as we try to enjoy the park’s beautiful views, wildflowers, and desert landscapes. I find myself yelling “on your left!” over and over as I make my way across the trail on a busy weekend morning.
Thankfully, there’s a solution in sight to help Pinnacle Peak Park keep up with its reputation as one of the most visited hiking spots in the state.
Questions 1, 2 and 3 on the November 5th ballot invest in needed upgrades for our city, including Pinnacle Peak Park. The bonds before Scottsdale voters will renovate hiking trails, build a new interactive trail for hikers, and expand parking so more residents and visitors can enjoy one of our community’s most popular destinations.
Phoenix upgraded trail heads, parking, and facilities at some of its most popular hiking spots including Echo Canyon and the Cholla Trail at Camelback Mountain. Those investments have made for better experiences for local hikers and tourists.
Scottsdale’s Bond Questions 1, 2 and 3 also improve other parks (including McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park), fix infrastructure on Indian Bend Wash, Vista del Camino Park and Civic Center Plaza, and invest in facilities for first responders and seniors.
Scottsdale is an extraordinary community because of amenities like Pinnacle Peak Park; I appreciate this every time I hike and want to make sure our trails are there for us to enjoy both now and into the future.
The three bond questions on the November 5th ballot invest in the park I love and the city I love. That’s why I’m voting YES.
